The numbers speak for themselves. Last year, the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) Food Pantry Network assisted over 70,000 unique individuals experiencing food insecurity. (To put that into context, Iowa City has a population of ~75,000.) Rising food costs, increases in basic living expenses, and Iowa rejecting over $29 million in federal food aid has created an economy where the need for food assistance has never been greater.
If you are able to help, we would greatly appreciate your support. Your contribution matters! A donation of $10 can make a huge difference in someone else's ability to get through a difficult week.
Great coaches make adjustments throughout the game, similarly, fundraisers analyze their progress and make adjustments to tactics or messaging as needed. Don't be afraid to pivot when inspiration strikes! Score as many touchdowns as possible!
When you reach your fundraising goal(s), it's time for an end zone celebration! Celebrate your team's success! Share the impact their contributions will have on the DMARC Food Pantry Network and individuals suffering from food insecurity. Share with your team the value of their donations, and make them feel like the MVPs (Most Valuable Philanthropists) that they are!
Whether it's a pie in your boss's face, a chili cookoff at $10/bowl, or a game of can mini golf with a wager attached, adding competitive incentives to your food fund drive can help to ensure that it's a smashing success!
Regardless of who ends up winning the big game, we will all be winners when we come together to combat food insecurity in the Des Moines area.
Collecting nonperishable items helps DMARC provide a greater selection of food within our Food Pantry Network. Imagine the surprise and delight in a child's eyes when they walk in and see their favorite box of cereal sitting on the shelf!
While food donations will always be important for the support of communities, cash donations can do even more! Working with food wholesalers and other sources, DMARC can acquire 2 to 6 times more food with your donated dollars.
